Fuquay-Varina Landscaping Starts With Red Clay
Dig six inches almost anywhere in Fuquay-Varina and you hit it. Orange Piedmont clay that bakes like brick in August and turns to grease after a week of rain. It holds water at the surface, it packs hard under foot traffic, and it is the reason so many builder shrubs are dead by year two.
We plan around it from the first visit. Beds get amended and raised a few inches. Planting holes go wide, not deep, so roots never sit in a clay bowl full of water. And we look at where the water runs before we talk about what goes in the ground.
